What does GMail, 30Boxes, Meebo has in common?
Together they save me more than 68Mb of RAM (and also diskspace) by replacing ThunderBird, SunBird and Gaim.

Web applications had moved beyond the yester-year hype of browser based thin-client and became practical usable solutions.
A major drawback is the need to be online in order to use the applications. I want to read my email and update my calendar anytime.
RAM saving alone is not the deciding factor.
However with internet access at home and at work, together with wi-fi everywhere, the decision is getting clearer.

Question, how much more RAM and memory leaks occur when you open those web apps in new tabs in Firefox? I already see Firefox at 162,844K in the screenshot.
Good point!
I really should point out that
1. Only GMail was opened
2. I have no less than 20 tabs open EACH in a few Windows
