An Idea a Month

Since the last domain name giveaway, I had been thinking of what other free giveaways or creative promotion ideas that I can do.

Then I think why not make this a regular event. The pressure will keep me thinking and the regularity let reader know what to expect.

Well I am launching another “exciting” giveaway in a few more days. Watch this space!

And we have the winner!

The winner just sign in. After a few days of waiting, I’m thinking there might be a redraw.

Thanks everyone you have commented. Drop by again soon. I have another give away in the plan.

If you come across any good giveaway ideas, let me know.

Sites using AdAdvantage

What can be more pleasing to a theme developer than people using it?

I came across a few sites using my K2 3 column scheme.

You are using the AdAdvantage K2 scheme. Leave a note!

Pieces falling into place

Still in the refocus mode.

One thing that I think about often is how many things I am doing (many!) and how they can eventually fall in place, forming the BIG picture.

Maybe you know what I mean, maybe you don’t.

To sidetrack a little. It is not coincident that this site is named 59 ideas. “59″ is to be read as “finite”. Finite Ideas. Yes I try to keep my ideas finite, countable.

Seeking revenue online and building my business offline, that’s what I’m doing. In between I slot in a few more things.

Believe me I do have a vague picture of how things will come together but the destination is an ever changing one. Some say it is the journey not the destination.

The line between the online and offline is getting blur. What is on-line and what is off-line?

Yet in reality, the world, the people that I meet on and off line are so different that segregation is still a must.

How will all the pieces of ideas fall into place? That’s my thoughts and the common theme that strings the random posts in this blog.

I am a Weekend Blogger

(Actually, he is the real weekendblogger, I just blog on weekend.)

One thing I had learnt from maintaining a few blogs is that time is never available when you need to write a post.

When you have not blogged for a few days and felt you need to put in an entry, you have no time.
When you have time and wanted to write a post, you think, “I just did this morning, save it for another day“.

9rules consider consistency as an important trait of a good blog. Some think that daily blogging is a bad idea. To me a regularly updated blog feels flesh and shows effort.

One method that I found effective is to just write when I have the time and save then as draft. So in the weekend when I have a little more time, I write as many entries as I can. Some complete, some partial. These serve as my ammo when I need to get a post out.

Is scheduled post a good idea? Should blog post be instantaneously published?

A day in the life of 59ideas

Following the refocus of this blog to present a more personal account, here is a glimpse of what keep me occupied.

  • 8am start of a new day
  • 9am - 6pm day job, in between managing staffs, client meeting and supplier negotiation - surf the net, finding new ideas, update blog
  • 8pm - 3am home, online time, work on blog and other online projects
  • 11pm - 12am family time

Can I have more hours?

Reintroduce and refocus

Thank you for visiting!

Visitors has steadily increase since 59ideas started new year 2006. It is an opportune time to reintroduce this blog and at the same time refocus, both for the readers and myself.

A little background.

59ideas started as a companion to my 2006 project to achieve revenue online. First started on WordPress.com, it was move to it’s own domain because access to wordpress.com is blocked in China. (Yes I live in China.)

At the same time another blog was started to keep track of my project at From 0 to Independence. This too had move to it’s own domain and rename Seeking Revenue.

Since then I has started a few more sites (like Ken and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance) and got in many things (way too many).

At the same time, my physical business (no, I’m not a full-time blogger) had improved (a good thing!) and little time is left for the online project.

As you can see many of the posts are now just my del.icio.us bookmarks.

So what is the focus of this blog? More importantly, what should be the focus?

Ad Advantage beta Release

Release my Ad Advantage theme in beta. Find out more about the idea behind the theme.

My reckon is the theme is 80% done in terms of structure and 30% done in terms of the bells and whistles I like to include.
